Difficult weekend due to storm damage

The storm that passed over the Mohave Valley last Friday brought some much needed rain but also brought wind and lightning which caused some difficulties for FMTUA. Power disruptions due to the storm damaged the pump and motor for the main well site in the south valley and emergency repairs needed to be made during the weekend with more extensive work to be taking place within the next two weeks. FMTUA also suffered a 12" water main break this weekend which caused a lengthy water outage for many customers in the south valley. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the mainbreak, there could not be advanced notice, and the repair itself was quite challenging. We understand that a water outage causes significant distress to customers, especially during the hot summer months. It also impacts businesses that are forced to close down when there is no water. These closures are not the fault of the business owners, and FMTUA is working very hard to minimize the impacts to all customers when an outage does occur. Whenever an outage lasts longer than 4 hours, we will activate an emergency response and drinking water will be available for impacted customers from the Tribal EPA Emergency Response office located at 800 W Broadway St, Suite A, in Needles, California.
